Corrosion control coatings, in our shop or at your plant

We stop corrosion on industrial equipment. AEGIS Advanced is a coating applicator in Elkton, Maryland. We coat pumps, valves, bolts and flanges, structural steel, seal bars, rolls and wear parts, in our shop or on site with field deployable equipment. Parts too big for an oven are cured in place with our mobile process heat equipment. Send us the problem and you get an engineering specification within one business day and a quote within three.

Already picked a coating? We’ll apply it. AEGIS is an applicator, not a supplier. Send us the spec from your engineer, OEM or coating manufacturer and we apply it to the manufacturer’s process, in our shop or at your plant. See the coatings we’re certified to apply. No spec yet? We’ll recommend one.

Industries we protect

  • Navy and shipyards: shipbuilding and ship repair parts, salt air and splash zone corrosion, large parts coated on site
  • Steel mills: rolls, wear parts and structural steel exposed to heat, scale, water and abrasion
  • Oil and gas: flange bolting and equipment in H2S, sour service and offshore salt air
  • Fertilizer plants: equipment exposed to ammonia, nitrates and chlorides
  • Chemical processing: sulfuric, hydrochloric, caustic, chloride and aggressive cleaning chemistries
  • Pulp and paper: chloride bleaching service, rolls, dryer cans and wet end equipment
  • Power generation: steam, cooling water and flue gas exposure
  • Water and wastewater: H2S and chloride exposure on pumps, valves and fasteners
  • Food, beverage and packaging: corrosion and release on processing equipment and heat seal bars, with FDA compliant grades

Coat, replace, or thermal spray?

Coat when the part is still sound and the failure is surface attack: pitting, chemical attack, salt or chloride exposure. A barrier coating costs a fraction of a new pump, valve or structural part and can often go on in place.

Replace when corrosion has taken away enough metal that the part no longer meets its design strength or tolerances. We’ll tell you if that’s the case.

Thermal spray or HVOF fits when wear is the main failure, or when you need to build back lost dimensions. Where corrosion and wear happen together, we can put an AEGIS topcoat over a thermal spray base. See thermal spray vs HVOF vs ceramic for a full comparison.

How it works

  1. Send the problem. Photos of the damage, the part or asset, the service chemistry and temperature. Use the Coating Review or contact us.
  2. Engineering specification in one business day. We match the coating system to the failure mode, not a generic thickness.
  3. Quote in three business days once we’ve complete information.
  4. Coat in our shop or at your plant. Ship to Elkton, MD, or we bring mobile preparation and cure rigs and work to your outage window.
  5. Verify and document. Thickness, hardness, cure and visual inspection are recorded before the part ships or the crew leaves.
Have a corrosion problem right now? Send photos and a short description through the Coating Review. An engineer will reply with a recommended system within one business day.

Corrosion control FAQ

What is a corrosion control coating?

A corrosion control coating is a barrier applied to metal equipment to keep water, chemicals, salts and gases away from the substrate. AEGIS uses multilayer fluoropolymer systems (an adhesion primer, a barrier midcoat and a topcoat matched to the environment), plus ceramic and tungsten carbide reinforced systems where heat or wear is also a factor.

Can you coat equipment without taking it out of service?

Often, yes. Our field deployable system uses the same coating chemistry as our shop work, with mobile surface preparation and process heat cure on site. Most bolt and flange work needs no disassembly.

How has the coating been tested?

CP400 is verified to 4,000 hours of ASTM B117 salt spray with no undercut from a scribe. Our coatings have also been tested to ASTM D870 water immersion.

How fast can you respond?

You get an engineering specification within one business day and a quote within three business days of complete information. Shop and field jobs are scheduled around your maintenance window.

Are you ISO 9001 certified?

Yes. Our quality management system has been ISO 9001 certified for over three years and was recertified in 2026. Thickness, hardness and cure are documented on every job. AS9100 certification is in progress.

I already chose a coating. Can you apply it?

Yes. AEGIS is certified to apply Cerakote, Whitford Xylan, Belzona, Sherwin-Williams, PPG, Hempel, Jotun and Carboline liquid applied systems, following the manufacturer’s process.

Are you a certified Cerakote applicator?

Yes. AEGIS is a factory trained, certified Cerakote applicator, trained by NIC Industries, the maker of Cerakote. Cerakote is a good fit for tight tolerance parts that need corrosion, heat and wear resistance.

Do you have food grade corrosion resistant coatings?

Yes. Our FP and PFA series meet FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for indirect food contact, and compliance documentation comes with every job.
