Pump and impeller coating service: coat or replace?
Who can coat my pumps and impellers? We can. If you’ve got casings, impellers or wear parts losing metal to corrosion, chemicals or abrasion, send them to our shop in Elkton, Maryland. If the pump body is too big to pull, we’ll coat it in place at your plant. Either way you’ll have a spec within a day and a quote within three.

Coat or replace a corroded pump?
Coat it when the casting is still sound and the damage is at the surface: pitting, chemical attack, chlorides or early erosion. A coating restores a protective surface for a fraction of the cost of a new pump, usually with a much shorter lead time.
Replace it when corrosion or erosion has removed enough metal that the part no longer meets its pressure rating or tolerances. We’ll tell you if that’s the case when we review your photos.
Coat the new one too. If the old pump failed from corrosion, the new one will too. Coating a new pump before it goes into service is the cheapest time to protect it.
Which coating for which pump problem
| Problem | What we apply |
|---|---|
| Corrosion and chemical attack (acids, caustics, chlorides) | CP400 fluoropolymer corrosion barrier, tested to 4,000 hours ASTM B117, or the manufacturer system you specify |
| Slurry and abrasive wear | EW200HD tungsten carbide reinforced fluoropolymer, 60 to 70 HRC |
| Wear and corrosion together | Tungsten carbide reinforced system, or an AEGIS topcoat over a thermal spray base |
| Food, beverage and pharma pumps | FDA compliant fluoropolymer grades (21 CFR 175.300) |
